FAQ - Snow & Ice Control Services

Do you return to clear the city plow debris at the end of the driveway?
Yes, we return to clear city debris, and in most storms, we will clear the same street multiple times.

On big snowfalls, do you wait until the end of the snowfall to begin services?
No, on large snowfalls (15 cm or more), we will usually make several visits to the property.

Will my driveway always be completed by 7:00 am?
No. Unfortunately, due to the variable start/stop of times of snowstorms, we can’t guarantee service before 7:00 am. Consider an example of a snowstorm that starts at 4:00 am. Trying to clear an 8 hour route before 7:00 am (eg. 4 hours) would be impossible and silly due to the small amount of snow that had accumulated before 7:00 am.

What is the purpose of salting?
The purpose of salting is to break the ice-pavement bond that develops when snow either melts and freezes to the pavement, or there is freezing rain. In both instances, salt is used to break the bond, allowing manual removal (eg. Via plow, blower, scraper, shovel , etc.) Salt does not add traction in any way.
